That's when a Renown Certified Child Life Specialist stepped in. She brought him a stuffed animal equipped with the exact same medical tubes. Together, they explored the materials and "practiced" the procedures, giving him a sense of control.

He gained confidence before and during treatment. Afterward, he even took the doll home and continued to "play doctor" for days.

Charity in Bloom is an exclusive philanthropic initiative by Sparks Florist®. We partner with a vital local organization. When customers purchase the designated "Charity in Bloom" floral arrangement, a significant portion of the proceeds is donated directly to that month's beneficiary. For the month of July, we are incredibly proud to partner with Renown Children's Hospital.

How does my purchase support Renown Children's Hospital?

For every Charity in Bloom arrangement purchased, Sparks Florist® donates a full $45 directly to Renown Children's Hospital. For every Charity in Bloom Truffle box purchased, Sparks Florist donates 25% of that purchase price too. These funds support the Child Life Program, which provides toys, art therapy, medical play dolls, and critical emotional support for pediatric patients and their families.

What is a Children's Miracle Network (CMN) hospital?

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a non-profit organization that raises funds for children's hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. Renown Children's Hospital is northern Nevada's only CMN hospital. This designation guarantees that 100% of the funds raised locally stay local, directly impacting families right here in our community.

What exactly does a Child Life Specialist do?

While doctors and nurses provide essential medical healing, Certified Child Life Specialists focus on the emotional and psychological well-being of the child. They use developmental interventions, medical play, and therapeutic activities to help children understand their diagnosis, prepare for frightening procedures, and find moments of pure joy during their hospital stay.

What makes Renown Health unique in our region?

Renown Health is northern Nevada’s only locally governed, non-profit healthcare network. Because they are a non-profit, all earnings are reinvested back into the community to improve care, technology, and essential services like the Child Life Program—rather than going to out-of-state shareholders.

What is the 12 Months of Flowers program?

12 Months of Flowers is our signature subscription card that allows you to pick up a fresh, wrapped bouquet of seasonal flowers every month for an entire year. By purchasing the card, you receive beautiful blooms year-round, and a portion of the proceeds is donated directly to Renown Children's Hospital. It's a wonderful way to keep giving back. Does the recipient know the flowers supported a charity?

Yes! We believe this makes the bouquet an even more powerful gift. We place a beautifully designed informational card inside every Charity in Bloom delivery. The recipient will know immediately that your spectacular floral gift also brought smiles to hospitalized children.

Can I add chocolates to my Charity in Bloom order?

Absolutely. You can select the "Add Artisan Truffles" option during checkout to include a box of decadent Champagne & Chocolate truffles. Even better, 25% of the truffle proceeds will also be donated to Renown Children's Hospital.

Can I send this arrangement outside of Reno and Sparks?

Because this is an exclusive Sparks Florist® original design featuring specific premium blooms, it is only available for local delivery within our service area, which includes Reno, Sparks, and select surrounding northern Nevada communities.

Are my purchases and add-on donations tax-deductible?

The Bouquet & Truffles: Because you are receiving beautiful physical goods in exchange for your purchase, the bouquet and truffles themselves are not tax-deductible for you. However, Sparks Florist will proudly donate 25% of the proceeds from these items directly to Renown Children's Hospital.

The Add-On Donations: If you choose to donate an additional amount with one of the additional donation amount options, 100% of that additional donation is given to Renown Children's Hospital to help support the Child Life Program.

Will I receive a separate tax receipt for my add-on donation?

No additional paperwork will be mailed to you. Your standard itemized receipt from our shop will display your donation as a separate, tax-exempt line item. Per IRS guidelines, a store receipt showing the date, the charity’s name, and the donation amount serves as your official proof of a charitable contribution for donations under $250.
