Tanzania Mission Food Bank Open Hearts

Two Worlds,
One United Mission

For over two decades, the United Women in Faith at St. Paul's UMC have understood that true compassion has no borders. A child’s need for a safe bed, medical care, and a warm meal is universal—whether they live thousands of miles away or right down our own street.

Here in our Northern Nevada community, there is a quiet crisis playing out behind closed doors. Countless families face the agonizing, daily struggle of food insecurity. Organizations like the Food Bank of Northern Nevada are fighting on the front lines, but they desperately rely on local support to keep up with the soaring demand.

At the exact same time, a different crisis is unfolding in Tanzania. The Samaritan Village Orphanage provides a permanent, loving home for over 60 orphaned children. But as they take in more vulnerable kids, they have reached a breaking point with their infrastructure. They urgently need a new 100-bed dormitory and a 50-bed hospital expansion to provide immediate, life-saving medical care.

The needs are vast, both at home and abroad. But the power of a united community can bridge any gap.

A Beautiful Way to Build a Better World

For over 25 years, our congregation has answered the call, passionately funding everything from local disaster relief to clean water wells overseas. But monumental goals—like ensuring no child goes hungry in Reno and building a hospital wing in Africa—require our entire community coming together.

That’s why we partnered with Sparks Florist® to offer the 12 Months of Flowers card. We wanted to provide a way for your charitable giving to become a tangible, monthly reminder of the lives you are changing.

When you purchase this card, you aren't just buying flowers. You are stocking the pantry for a struggling single mother in Sparks. You are also laying the literal bricks for a new dormitory and equipping a medical clinic that will heal a sick child across the globe. It is an act of profound, life-altering care, wrapped in the simple beauty of fresh blooms.

A Mission of Hope

"The progress they've made with new greenhouses and chicken coops is incredible, but the need for safe housing and medical care remains critical."

Right now, there are families in Northern Nevada wondering where their next meal will come from. And there are children at Samaritan Village without a proper bed or immediate medical attention—a reality our member Pat L. saw firsthand on a recent mission trip.

Every day we wait, a local family struggles and a global child goes without care. By purchasing this card, you provide the funds necessary to feed our neighbors and break ground on the new hospital, ensuring that children everywhere don't just survive, but thrive.
